Birchbox.com: The Beauty Gift That Keeps Giving! My December Review!
So I woke up one morning 2 weeks ago, and I had taken a mental health day from work. I was wearing my fuzzy pink robe. I had just drank my morning tea. All of a sudden, my personal Santa called me excitedly and asked me to check my front door. As I have vampire tendencies (i.e. dislike sun, want to kill humans) in the morning, I kindly declined. I wanted to enjoy my chai, and the Price Is Right was having it’s showcase showdown!
“Go outside! There’s a box waiting for you on the doorstep .. and it’s pink!”
My vampire sense kicked in. A box? For ME? And .. it’s P I N K!!!!!!!! Okay Santa .. but this better be good!
WOW! A BIRCHBOX!!!! My very own birchbox .. wait .. what the eff is a birchbox?
For those of you like myself, that had a fleeting idea of what a birchbox is, I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce you to my favorite new lust. Birchbox is a service which allows you to receive deluxe beauty, fragrance, grooming, hair, skincare, body and any other samples all in a cute little box shipped monthly for free to your house. It’s kind of like the toothfairy, except you don’t loose teeth, and you get sweet ass samples instead of $20. (Thanks Mom & Dad).
This is a great site for girls like me, who don’t necessarily care about the hottest make up color or product, but who genuinely love finding helpful and exciting new products across all make up brands. Beauty products are infinite, Birchbox allows you to cleverly and conveniently sample away! (Fabulous idea, Santa!) So thanks to my 12-month subscription, I’ll be sharing my reviews with you monthly! Here’s my December products review:
December Birchbox Contents:
1) Yogini Perfume
2) Jouer Lipgloss in Birchbox Pink
3) Show Stoppers Nude Strips
4) Laura Geller Waterproof Eyeliner in Caffe Mocha
5) E-Boost Supplement
6) Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo
I tried on this scent as soon as I opened the box. This fragrance had an interesting smell to it. I couldn’t place it at first, since some fragrances tend to be sweet, others are musky. The best way to describe this fragrance is that it smells like sandlewood and incense. I can see why they call this scent “Yogini”. It has a very earthy, clean smell – and it lasts for a good while. If your into that, then definitely check it out. This is available at HarveyPrince.com.
2. Jouer Lipgloss in Birchbox Pink $20
Okay, I’m a sucker for pink. And I’m a sucker for marketing. Well played, Birchbox. Well played. I tried this color on, and it reminded me of O-Gloss by Smashbox. Though it looks bright pink, it goes on very sheer, feels light, and gives your lips a just-bitten look. Very sex-see. I LOVED this color. This gloss doesn’t go on too thick, and it’s not very goopy. Unfortunately it’s sold out on Birchbox at the moment. But here are some other Jouer shades to play with!
3. Show Stoppers Nude Strips $14.99
MUST HAVE. I am in love with low tops, and god knows us Pretty Please girls be lovin our backless fits. These show stoppers are little strips of double sided tape which in essence, keep your junk where it needs to be kept. I tried these with a low cut shirt, while I was out grabbing drinks, and they didn’t budge. It’s no wonder their website is called BuyShowStoppers.com!
4. Laura Geller i-Care Waterproof Eyeliner $17
When I first saw this box, I was uber excited due to this being a full size sample, and everyone who knows me .. knows I LOVE EYELINER AND MASCARA! This is a lighter brown, so if you want a darker smokey look, you may want to steer clear of this color. I do love this color though, perfect for natural days out – and it has a little smudgey at the end so you can smudge and define your eye! I’m a FAN!
5. EBoost Daily Health Booster 20 Pack for $28
This is like emergen-C. If you’re a fan of dietary supplements try this out. Personally, after the airborne
phenomenon fad, I kind of got over it. To each their own, meh.
6. Oscar Blandi Pronto Invisible Volumizing Dry Shampoo $25
Dry Shampoo = Legit. I loved this sample, I’m usually a fan of the powder. This spray was less dry shampoo more hairspray. It definitely gave my hair volume for an or two, which I appreciated. It had a strong hold. For $25, I’d say this is definitely worth the buy!
