Ahem, I have an itty bitty announcement to make: I LOST MY ALT SUMMIT CHERRY!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went to the ultimate blog/design/networking conference: Altitude Summit. I sat in traffic for an hour on what is a normal 20 minute ride to the airport, couldn’t find parking for 20 minutes, lugged my hot pink suitcase, and equally big and honkin’ carry on bag in the parking lot to the airport, got stared down by people waiting in line in security because I asked to cut.. only to make it with 3 minutes prior to boarding time was announced. Oh I knew it was going to be a good trip from the start.
To be honest, I was terrified. I didn’t know what to expect. Would there be amazing gorgeous perfect bloggers everywhere? Would I be able to say anything to them without stuttering? The answer to both of those questions was YES and YES. Truth be told, I’m not the best networker, but I honestly have to say Alt Summit was an amazing experience for me – not only did I get tons of knowledge about social media/tech, but also some really good tips for my blog! Because I want to make your first (or next) Alt Summit conference visit amazing, I came up with some tips that I think will make your Alt visit PERFECT.COM!
1) STAY AT THE HOTEL!!!
This may be a bit tricky as the hotel sells out immediately after the conference is announced. We tried looking for rooms here and as it was sold out, we figured we would be able to stay at a nearby hotel and be fine. We ended up finding a modest hotel about .2 miles away – and we thought we were golden! What we weren’t banking on was the snow, an additional conference in the area, and a taxi wait time to rival SF weekend wait times.

To save any hassle, ensure to stay at the hotel. Waiting an hour and a half for a taxi to show up and not being able to run up to our room to rest was a bit of a pain. Additionally, we were late for the mini party the first day due to taxi wait. Moral and lesson learned, we will be staying at the GRAND AMERICAN HOTEL next year for Alt!

Too often we are caught up in the day to day headaches, mundane activities, and short-sighted obstacles.
